3. Conclusion
In conclusion, Civil society reiterates the need to prioritise:
- Capacity building among various stakeholders and actors for an effective multi-sectoral response to the HIV/AIDS
- Design of an appropriate policy framework for employment generation.
- Implementation of the National Gender Policy
- Revision of the National Youth Action Plan and establishment of an institutional framework to co-ordinate youth and child development concerns
- Prioritisation of Disability issues; and
- Capacity Building for community involvement in sustainable development strategies.
- Other issues of a cross-cutting nature that must equally receive attention in all poverty reduction efforts which, due to time constrain we could not expound on here include: the pattern of income distribution in Zambia, the aspect of water development and sanitation sector.
Civil Society is convinced that when these priorities are put right, there can be reasonable basis for optimism and for believing that rapid progress towards poverty reduction is feasible in Zambia.
